The Advent in the Mountains event returns to Kitzbuehel Nov. 29 to Dec. 24 bringing with it a popular Christmas market and a celebratory programme of events for all ages.

This festive event fills Kitzbuehel's snowy streets with the scent of mulled wine and cinnamon biscuits. Entertainment features brass bands, Christmas stories, and musical performances in the town's historic centre.

Highlights of the event include a visit from St. Nicholas who brings gifts for the well-behaved children and drives away the evil spirits Dec. 5 and 6; guided walks by torchlight on the Hahnenkamm; and the pretty nativity scene carved by hand from ice and snow.

Kitzbuehel boasts 168 kilometres of ski runs for all levels, ranging from nursery slopes to the legendary Hahnenkamm downhill racing piste for experts. Freestylers can practise the latest tricks at Boarders Paradise on the Kizbueheler Horn. Ski slopes are served by 56 modern ski lifts including the new 3S gondola. Free ski buses connect the ski slopes in the area.

Other winter activities in Kitzbuehel include adventure walking, cross-country skiing, Nordic walking, and ice curling. Alpine restaurants are scattered across the mountains and offer hot beverages and hearty meals. Kitzbuehel's town centre is lined plenty of bars, cafes, restaurants, and exclusive shops.
