Last season, more than 9,000 youths participated

PSAA President Gregg Confer said, "We feel that fourth- and fifth-graders are at a perfect age to want to accelerate downhill skills. Their excitement and enthusiasm is dramatic"

Confer said the goal is to provide an affordable way to introduce youngsters to the sports of skiing and snowboarding and create lifelong participants.

"We want to remind families that spending time together in the mountains is healthy and fun. It's a great alternative to television and video games," he said.

Glenn Kirby, parent of one fourth-grader, said, "We think it is a great program. Without the Snowpass, we wouldn't have gone snowboarding at all last winter.  We are looking forward already to this year as well as when my first-grader is a fourth-grader."
