The Italian resort of Livigno is offering a free lift ticket this winter when you book a stay with a participating hotel for a minimum of four nights or an apartment for a minimum of seven nights.

The offer is valid from Nov. 28 until Dec. 25 and from Apr. 17 to May 2,  2010. Livigno's high altitude - at 1816 metres - means it enjoys reliable snowfall from November to May.

In addition to the free lift ticket offer, Livigno is also offering low priced lift tickets on Saturdays for most of the season wherever you're staying. The Saturday Special offer means a day pass costs only €28 on Saturdays from Jan. 7 to Mar. 27, 2010.

Livigno is one of the highest villages in Europe. It is situated in a mountain valley with the Alps to the north and the Dolomites to the south - protected from both the cold northerly winds of the former and the snow-melting warm breezes of the latter.  It is located just south of the Swiss border, with St Moritz as one of it closest neighbours. The resort is famous for its duty free and contains over 200 shops - most of them selling alcohol, tobacco and perfume products at tax-free prices.
