GrindelwaldSPORTS is offering a two-day Aletsch Glacier Hike. The tour is a round-trip that takes participants along Europe's longest glacier and is graded as a ‘basic' difficulty level aimed at all levels of hikers.

The two-day itinerary includes: meeting in Interlaken or on the Jungfraujoch on day one and taking the glacier hike to the Konkordia Hut at 2850 meters (hiking time: four hours); then on day two hikers descend along the glacier as far as the Marjelesee, then hike to Fiescheralp and head home (hiking time: six hours).

The all-inclusive package features a train ticket from Interlaken to the Jungfraujoch, instructions and guiding from a licensed mountain guide, accommodation with half-board at the Konkordia Hut, and a return ticket to Interlaken.

The 23-kilometer Aletsch Galcier is the longest glacier in Europe and lies in the midst of the UNESCO World Nature Heritage. No previous glacier experience is required, just endurance for up to six hours and good hiking equipment is all you need. The tour is organized in cooperation with the Jungfrau Railways.

The Aletsch Glacier Hike is priced at CHF420 (€276) for adults and CHF360 (€237) for children and holders of Swiss half-fare card. The course is available on Tuesdays to Sundays between July 27 and Sept. 27, 2009.
