Winter's been loony this year, but we can take heart by qualifying that with a "so far." Obstacles or no, hard-core ski areas are taking every evening dip below freezing they can to make snow. Hidden Valley keeps hitting it with one trail open, making it a tight squeeze (but open is open). Mountain Creek is keeping one of its four peaks open. South Peak was pumping out six trails and running two lifts.
