Over at Ski Roundtop in Lewisberry the mountain has put together a list of wants for next year. There's nothing major in the way of new terrain since the resort is still relishing their terrain park installed last season. But at the top of their list for next season are additional fan guns to spray even more of the man-made stuff.
According to mountain manager Jim Garling, Roundtop would like to purchase up to a dozen new guns, though the final budget has yet to be approved.
But even new guns would not have been much use at the onset of the season when warm weather kept temperatures above freezing into early January.
"Like a lot of mountains in the area it was rough in the beginning," recalled Garling. "We got off to a late start."
Once Old Man Winter reared his snowy head though, the mountain took advantage and cranked into full gear enjoying a stellar second half.
"By mid January it really picked up," said Garling. "We had some of the best skiing we've had in years. Once the temperatures dropped they stayed below freezing almost every day. We maintained perfect powder conditions through the end of the season. It was a really solid year."
