Hype for the approaching ski season launches in Calgary Oct. 13-15 when Freshtival returns for its ninth annual festival of films. The three-day film festival, put on by Fresh Sports, brings eight of this year's ski movies to the Uptown Theatre in Calgary.

In addition to eight movies, the festival brings together athletes starring in the movies, X-Games medalists and big mountain skiers to sign autographs. Members of the Freshtival audience can win $10,000 of prizes from sponsors, including Fernie Alpine Resort, Kicking Horse Mountain and Lake Louise.

Each showing includes a double feature of films. Showings are scheduled for 6:30 and 9:30 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday. A 3:30 p.m. matinee is also scheduled for Saturday.
