Weekend snows pelted the resort, dumping 16 inches one night. While the resort traditionally opens on Turkey Day, above freezing thermometer readings prevented snowmaking, and Mother Nature failed to deliver. All that changed overnight as single-digit temps and blowing snow descended. After bouncing their opening to last weekend, and then this next weekend, the resort has now announced that lifts will turn on Friday, Dec.1. "I think it's going to be another great season," said CEO Fred Jones. "It's always exciting to open." Locals, of course, can't wait. They're hiking up to ski.
