Among the promises made by the new owners of Powderhorn ski resort was a better deal on season passes than in past seasons.

The prices are up on the board for the 2011/2012 season, and the first discounts run until Oct. 14 for a year of skiing and riding across the mountain’s 700 acres beside the edge of Grand Mesa on Colorado’s Western Slope.

An early season adult unlimited season pass is going for $399, while teens get it for $299. Pre-teens pay only $195, while seniors can get on the hill any day, any time for $329 or less.

A family pass costs $1,220, including any combination of four adults or youths. Additional family members can be added for a discounted rate.

College students and military personnel pay only $299, while the sale lasts.

For those who can visit the mountain midweek, Powderhorn further discounts season passes, especially before the Oct. 14 deadline.

To beat the discount deadline, season passes can be purchased online at www.powderhorn.com/buy-season-passes. All pass holders must present a signed liability form at the resort before receiving a pass.
