When the cold smoke cleared only 27 of the 162 locals in all age groups who entered the qualifier made it on to the race sheet for the actual event, which is slated for February 9-11. "What a bunch of whack jobs," says snowboarder Brad Smithers of the participants in the event. "It's cool though, everybody up here seems to know how to have a hell of a good time and who couldn't use a good old fashion roll of duct tape!?"
