The CoverGirl Snow Angels Invitational will be conducted for the second year at Snowmass resort April 3-5.

The Snow Angels Invitational is the only women-specific snowboard competition and lifestyle event of its kind in the country, if not the world.

The event will feature an all-female superpipe contest Friday (qualifying) and Saturday (finals), a photo and film shoot of the top athletes performing in the pipe Sunday and a weekend full of activities such as day spas visits, yoga classes, and a girls' night on the town.

Gretchen Bleiler, a local who serves as the Snow Angels Invitational official hostess, won last year's inaugural superpipe competition, with Kelly Clark and Elena Hight finishing second and third, respectively. Clark was awarded the best trick with a frontside 900 and the biggest air awards, which Bleiler took home the most aggressive riding award.

This year's athlete roster includes Bleiler, Clark, Hight, Hannah Teter, Torah Bright, Clair Bidez, Paulina Ligocka, Sarah Conrad, Meg Pugh, Ellery Hollingsworth, Mercedes Nicoll, Dominique Valle, and Soko Yamaoka.

The CoverGirl Snow Angels Invitational will mark the beginning of the end for the quartet of Aspen-area resorts. Buttermilk and Aspen Highlands are scheduled to close for the season April 5, while Aspen Mountain and Snowmass will stop spinning their lifts April 12.
