Serre Chevalier Hosts Gospel And Jazz Festival April 10-13
The ski area of Serre Chevalier
Serre Chevalier hosts the sixth Gospel and Jazz Festival in Easter 2009. A series of live performances will take place between April 10 and 13 in Monetier, Chantemerle, and Villeneuve.
The Easter week's festivities kick off on Friday April 10 with the L'echo de la Guisane concert in the Salle du Dome in Monetier; admission is free of charge. The Indiana Jazz Band can be heard in the mountain restaurant of Chantemerle at noon Saturday, April 11. Evening jazz and gospel music from the French Caribbean takes place in the La Salle Les Alpes Church of Villeneuve at 8:30 p.m. and entrance costs €10. Alternatively, New Orleans jazz can be heard in Monetier's Restaurant des Grands Bains at 9 p.m. and entrance is free.
Sunday April 12 features the Indiana Jazz Band playing in front of the Dome in Monetier at 4:30 p.m. The gospel choir ‘Bulgaria Gospel Voices' perform in the Salle du Serre d'Aigle in Chantemerle in the evening and entrance costs €10. The festival closes with a tribute to Ray Charles by Didier Guerin in the Salle du Dome in Monetier at 8:30 p.m. Monday, April 13; entrance costs €10.
