The Red Bull Snowkajak 2009 will return to Obertauern March 28. One hundred thrill-seekers will take part in this unique event, which guarantees fun for both riders and spectators.

The Snowkajak course is built at the Edelweissalm in Obertauern. The ski region of Obertauern decided to apply to hold the event again in 2009, following the huge media interest of the Snowkajak 2008.

This year there is one alteration: the starting mode has been changed. First the riders have to get through qualifying. The 64 fastest athletes are promoted to the final runs, which take place in heats of four riders, making the challenge more spectacular. Participation is free. The event starts at 10 a.m. and finishes at 4 p.m. March 28.

The Snowkajak Obertauern is one of the most impressive on-snow kajak events for both participants and spectators. The after-contest party, complete with DJs and drinks, starts on the Edelweissalm and reaches its climax at the Lürzer Alm.

Other events in Obertauern include the Intersport Alpine Glow ski test between March 29 and April 4, where everyone has the opportunity to try out the latest skis, snowboards, and accessories, and the traditional Easter Bonfire celebrations on April 11. More information on any of the events in Obertauern can be found on their Web site.
