The Riders for the Cure fund-raiser returns to Mt. Bachelor for a sixth go-round Saturday, April 4.

The halfpipe and rail jam session, which is geared for all ages and all abilities, is not a competition per se, but a charity event for the Sara Fisher Breast Cancer Project.

Participants make laps in the half pipe and jib park while Mt. Bachelor Free Ride Team members hand out swag and raffle tickets to riders for sick tricks, big air, A+ for effort, etc. Those tickets can be redeemed the Riders for the Cure "store", which will be stocked with $25,000 worth of coats, jackets, t-shirts, hoodys, beanies, hats, gloves, ski/snowboard tools, headphones, skis, snowboards and bindings.

Also, there will be prizes for the best pink costume, live music from El Dante, a limbo contest, and a barbeque.

Riders can help raise funds in two ways: Either through the day-of $35 entry fee or by getting pledges (minimum of $150, though a $75 limit is being considered). The more money you raise, the sweeter the gift bag.

The event has raised more than $50,000 for the Sara Fisher Breast Cancer Project, a local research and education foundation whose mission is to make people aware of the disease in hope of early detection and successful treatment of breast cancer.
