Salomon is looking for a few good park rats. The Salomon Jib Academy is where they are doing the identifying.

The Jib Academy is a series of skiing slopestyle events for athletes 16 years old or younger that makes its way around the country each season with a handful of stops at selected resorts.

The Academy is setting up its tent at Echo Mountain Resort March 28.

The Jib Academy format is simple: Participants ski in groups during the morning with a Salomon pro coachwho will clue them in on how to perform new tricks. Then, in the afternoon there will be a final jam session with each rider being judged and given the opportunity to qualify for a trip to the Jib Academy Final at California's Mammoth Mountain, where finalists from around the globe will get to hang with such Salomon International Team riders as Simon Dumont, Mark Abma, Kaya Turski, Charles Gagnier, Mike Douglas, and Sammy Carlson.

There is no entry fee for participants - other than possessing a valid Echo Mountain lift ticket or pass - and all riders must wear a helmet. Registration forms are available online.

Echo Mountain is located just 35 miles from downtown Denver.
