Big Mountain Battle Is Joined At Aspen Highlands March 29

The battleground The battleground

Helly Hansen, the high-end winter active-wear company, has thrown its name on a series of all-mountain skiing competitions that have taken place throughout the country.

The fifth and final stop of the Big Mountain Battle campaign comes to Aspen Highlands March 29 for the second annual Battle in the Bowls.

The event, which is hosted by Aspen-based big mountain skier Chris Davenport, features teams of two hauling their carcasses (and ski or snowboard gear, of course), up and down the mountain over a preset course, with the fastest teams hiking the routes, skiing the chutes, and passing through each checkpoint the fastest winning some cool cash and/or prizes.

This year's Battle in the Bowls will be divided into two divisions: competitive and noncompetitive. The top three competitive teams will be awarded a cash prize. All noncompetitive teams that finish the designated course in the allotted time will be entered into a drawing for prizes from Helly Hansen and other sponsors. Each participant, irrespective of finish, will receive Helly Hansen Lifa long underwear pants or shirt.

The fee for each team of two competitors - which can be skiers or snowboarders, mixed or coed - is $75 and registration can be done online until March 26.
