It's Worthwhile To Ride Alpine In The Spring

Take a spring fling at Alpine Meadows. Take a spring fling at Alpine Meadows.

Alpine Meadows has garnered a well-deserved reputation as being one of the best spring skiing resorts in the Tahoe area, if not the entire Sierra range.

Great hike-to steep faces that retain chalky snow well into late April, pure early morning corn rushes on the Sherwood side and occasional powder dumps make Alpine a great bet to get some riding done until the Memorial Day weekend.

Now they're giving that away at a special price - you can pick up an Unrestricted Ticket for $159. The pass is good any day Alpine is open from March 28 until the lifts stop spinning for the 2008-09 season.

Purchase the pass online, and while you're at it, toss in another $10 and join the resort's Alpine Club. This rider benefit program has several perks, including discounts on on-mountain dining, ski and snowboard lessons for kids and adults, and at the retail and rental shops.

Another added incentive to spend the spring at Alpine is the resort's annual weekly outdoor concert series, which brings popular regional bands to the sundeck of the main lodge each Saturday afternoon. Coming up are Kapi Kapi March 28, Leahy Leslie Connection April 4, and Monophonics April 11. The free shows are scheduled until April 25.
