There's never a dull moment at Grand Targhee. The resort piles on events until the closing day for winter and launches a full summer calendar again for summer.
Events pack out weekends at Targhee up throughout March and April. Junior snowboard competitions, the Sasquatch Snowshoe Series, a Jib Fest, and the 9th annual cardboard box derby are just a few of the highlights.
The winter ski and snowboard season wraps up with its final day April 12. That day not only hosts the Targhee Ski Team Rubber Leg Race, but also is the last day to buy next year's season passes at this year's rates.
Targhee re-opens June 20 for summer season. Sightseers can catch chairlift rides up Dreamcatcher to the summit of Fred's Mountain at 10,000 feet for a glimpse at the Grand Teton. The lift runs every day through Sept. 1. Those purchasing season passes for next year may ride the lift in summer free.
Daily summer activities include hiking and lift-served downhill mountain biking. Two mountain bike races highlight the summer calendar: the annual WYDAHO in July, and the 24 Hours of Grand Targhee in August.
Music festivals have built Targhee's summer reputation. The three-day Targhee Fest in July brings out the acoustic, folk, and blues greats while the resort's long-running annual Bluegrass Festival moves to new dates Aug. 21-23.
