Strong systems continue in the West, a mild day for the Northeast and the potential for record warmth in the Midwest. RC

Midwest

With the exception of a possible rain/snow mix in the northern most parts of the region today, most will see a very mild and warm (by Midwest winter standards) day, with highs from the mid 40's to the mid 60's in parts of Ohio. The structure of this weather system is so odd, that there is the potential for high fire danger in the plains states due to winds and warm temps. Northeast

A cool morning turns into a mild afternoon across the region, with highs into the mid 40's for most. The great weather is short lived though, as another winter system arrives this evening bringing a mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain in time for the weekend. Make sure to check resort and road conditions before you head out.

West

The incredible weather week continues for the mountains in the region, with even more snow on tap today for the Cascades, Sierra and the Northern Rockies today and into this evening. Those traveling in northwestern Montana and northern Idaho should take extra precautions as heavy snow fall (one to two feet) is in the forecast and could arrive very quickly. Highs today from the mid 20's to the mid 50's.
