Over the years, Homewood Resort, hard by the west shore of Lake Tahoe, has developed a reputation as a local's secret.

Fabulous tree skiing, generous well-groomed boulevards, uncrowded lifts and perhaps the most intimate views of the Big Blue are several of the reasons a relatively small group of skiers and snowboarders are proud to call Homey home.

The resort is offering a bunch of lift-ticket deals this spring that will take a bite out of Homewood's already reasonable rates ($39 midweek, $53 Friday-Sunday and $58 holiday periods for adults), If you need more incentive to give Homewood a try.

First off, there's the $25 lift ticket for season-passholders from any other resort, no matter where it's located. Just show up at Homewood on any Thursday, flash your 2008-09 season pass from elsewhere, and pay 25 bucks to ride Homey's lifts.

Then there's the $29 adult lift ticket that will be offered on select days next month. These tickets, which will made available for April 1, 2, 5, 6, 7 and 8, must be purchased online 24 hours in advance.

You can also get a $5 reduction in lift ticket prices by participating - i.e., showing up in costume -- in Homewood's various theme days, which include Animal Day March 21, Hawaiian Day March 28, Pajama Day April 4, and Wizard of Oz Day April 11.
