The Pineapple Express comes to an end with one final storm system over the next five days out West. In the Northeast, there are potentially two strong storm systems with snow for the ski areas.
California: One final storm system continues on Thursday and Friday with a mix of rain and snow. Snow levels start high then gradually drop on Thursday and Friday. Additional snow accumulation at the Tahoe resorts of 1-2 feet and up to 3 feet at Mammoth. Hit the ski resorts on Saturday as the snow ends and the high winds relax. Then a much drier and warmer weather pattern takes hold. The next storm system may not arrive until late next week.
Wyoming, Idaho, Montana: The Pineapple Express ends with one final storm system. Snow continues on Thursday, Friday and Saturday before drying-up. Great powder days ahead on all three days at Jackson Hole, Grand Targhee, Sun Valley, Schweitzer, Big Sky, Whitefish and Discovery. A three-day grand total of 1-2 feet with an isolated pocket of 3 feet possible in the Tetons.
Colorado, Utah: The Pineapple Express ends with one final storm system arriving in Utah on Friday and late Friday in Colorado. Accumulations in Utah and Colorado look heavy. A general 8-16 inches accumulation at Snowbird, Alta, Park City, Snowbasin, Steamboat, Snowmass, Vail, Loveland and Breckenridge. The pattern turns much drier and warmer after this storm system departs.
Northeast: Two storm systems are possible over the next five days. The first storm tracks up the coast and delivers light to moderate snow accumulations. Ski areas closer the coast will get more snow. A wave of light snow blows through Friday night into Saturday morning delivering a quick 1-2 inches. Then the 2nd storm system arrives late Saturday through Sunday with moderate snow accumulations mixing with rain at times.
Pacific Northwest: One final storm system delivers heavy snow to the high Cascades and Volcanoes on Thursday and Friday before gradually ending on Saturday. Then a drier pattern settles in.
Whistler/Blackcomb: One final storm system keeps the snow going on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Snow may linger on Sunday. Heavy snow accumulations.
Tomer's Take: On Friday ski Jackson Hole or Sun Valley for big powder, Tahoe or Steamboat on Saturday, and Loveland or Crested Butte on Sunday.
