(Mt. Hood, OR) — A major winter storm requiring a NOAA Winter Weather Advisory for Oregon’s Mt. Hood will likely allow Mt. Hood Meadows to operate a limited number of lifts Friday. Meadows V.P. of Communications Dave Tragethon says the storm which forecasters say should deliver several feet of snow to Mt. Hood the next few days is just what is needed to open. “We have about a half-foot base right now, and as soon as we get enough depth we’ll get snowcats on the hill to prep trails for a possible opening Friday. Just how many lifts and how much of the mountain will be open is dependent on how much snow we receive and when we receive it. Our crews are thankful to be working this Thanksgiving, in hopes of a limited opening Friday.”

Tragethon says the plan would be to open more lifts as the storm delivers more snow, and if the forecast delivers to its full potential it is likely Meadows will continue daily operations for the season.

Meadows has begun a “Countdown to opening” with a daily Facebook Live broadcast at 9 AM each morning @mthoodmeadows (http://www.facebook.com/mthoodmeadows). For daily updates on conditions and any opening announcements visit http://www.skihood.com.
