Sunshine Village celebrates the longest ski season in the Canadian Rockies with its lifts running well into May. Weekend events in April, however, keep the action hopping, while budding photographers and videographers will want to gather up their footage for a new contest.

The Easter bunny hits Sunshine for two egg hunts Apr. 12. A hunt for kids six years old and under hides eggs outside the daycare, while another tucks eggs into the snow at the top of Strawberry Lift for those 7-12 years old.

Then, the Coors Light Peak Party Weekend Playground Ski and Snowboard Competition features the Coors Light Snow Bunnies on the slopes as well as a Snowpants Bikini Contest, DJs, and the Coors Light Beer Garden April 25-26. The Playground competition brings good spectating with hips, rails, spines, and boxes in a mini-slopestyle course on Pandomonium Run.

"The Coors Light weekend has lots of activities and outdoor games," Doug Firby, public relations director for Sunshine Village, told OnTheSnow.com. "It's more about fun than talent."

Sunshine Village plans to host its first video and photo contest this spring. "There are hundreds of Sunshine videos on the Internet, and the public puts photos on our Web site," said Firby. "All kinds of people are shooting great stuff. We're just going to turn it into a contest." The contest, open to anyone, will award prizes on the last day of the ski season May 18.
