A very ugly day in store for the Midwest, some action for the Northeast and the mountain snow trend continues in the West. RC
More snow for the Pac Northwest and California today, with snow levels dropping to nearly 1000 feet in parts of Washington and Oregon. This system will also bring heavy snowfall to Idaho and portions of the Northern Rockies. Highs from the mid teens in the mountains to the upper 50's near the coast.
Travel safe today and check resort and road conditions before you head out. Up to 10 inches of snow is in the forecast for the upper Midwest, with snow, sleet and ice in store for parts of Michigan, Wisconsin and Ohio. High winds are also a concern today, so be prepared for possible power outages or white out conditions.
Most of the action today arrives in the form of a rain/snow mix, isolated to the eastern part of New York state and New England. This could very well be the "calm before the storm", as the system pounding the Midwest today moves east. Highs from the mid 20's in New England to the mid 40's further south.
