Skiers and snowboarders in Colorado, the Midwest and the Northeast have plenty of reasons to give thanks during the extended Thanksgiving holiday weekend.

Colorado ski areas will receive fresh snow today through Monday. Most ski areas will receive several inches with some deeper accumulations possible. Check Snow Before You Go for more details on expected snow fall.

Colorado Backcountry Conditions

The Colorado Avalanche Information Center (CAIC) reports moderate avalanche condtions through the Colorado Rockies. Last Saturday, a skier near Breckenridge was caught in an avalanche and injured. Fresh snow and wind transported snow will elevate avalanche conditions in the coming days.

Midwest and Northeast Conditions

Colder temperatures in the Midwest and the Northeast have enabled numerous ski areas to begin or resume snowmaking. Ski areas that are currently open will be padding their bases, and snowmaking will enable other ski areas to get closer to opening.
