The Bump Bash freestyle competition - the world's longest mogul race - returns to Zermatt April 4-12, 2009. This fun mogul event is open to all, including skiers, snowboarders, telemarkers, sledgers, and mountain bikes. Skiers of any level can enter the Bump Bash Classic and the Bump Bash Extreme and experience the excitement of mogul skiing.

Apart from the race, there are numerous side events in the ski area and parties with videos of the day's fun. Spontaneous bump skiing instruction from World Cup bump skiers also is available. The aim of the Bump Bash Classic is to have as much fun as possible on skis, sledges, inflatable objects, or mountain bikes, while the Bump Bash Exreme sees 100 skiers starting at the same time and competing against each other down 500 metres of bumps. The event is filmed, and in the evening the public decides the winner of Bump Bash Extreme.

Bump Bash event organisers say, "In 1986 the first Triftji Bump Bash took place on Triftji- at the top of one of Zermatt's three main skiing mountains. Since its humble ski-bum beginnings, the Bump Bash has evolved into the world's largest open bump competition, where show, spirit and fun are the most important ingredients."
