Boyne USA Resorts is putting $4.8 million into snowmaking, a new learning center lift, and upgrades to accommodations at Sunday River. This is on top of $2.5 million spent to repair flood damage from heavy rains in July. Sunday River bought 95 new low-energy snow guns. The high-output, energy efficient fan guns will be used on Lower Sunday Punch, Lower Monday Mourning, the lower part of Broadway, and from the bottom of the White Heat Quad to White Cap Base Lodge. Three new Bison by Prinoth 355 horsepower groomers will replace older models for the coming year. New snowmobiles and a new resort shuttle also are being purchased. A 500-foot-long Kaser Magic Carpet lift is replacing the handle tow at the Sundance learning terrain. Sunday is spending $1.3 million on renovations to the Jordan Grand Resort Hotel, Grand Summit Resort Hotel, and slopeside condos that include new lobby carpeting and exterior staining at the Jordan Grand, and a new pool deck, room renovations, and new carpet in Legends Restaurant at the Grand Summit. Upgrades at the Snow Cap Inn and Ski Dorm include new mattresses, windows, televisions, lobby and room furniture, and exterior siding.
