White Pass Looking For Future Cinematographers

Lights. Camera. Action. Lights. Camera. Action.

Attention all Northwest auteurs.

The folks at White Pass Ski Resort are looking for budding cinematographers - and even a few practiced camera wielders - to use their mountain as a canvas for your next - first? - film.

They want you to enter the finished product in the annual White Pass Film Festival, which also goes under the banner of Local Flicks for Local Kicks.

The films, which will be categorized thusly: Action Sports, Skit/Short Film, Documentary and Family Fun and can run from 2 to 5 minutes, will be shown at the White Pass day lodge Sunday, April 12, at 3 and 4:30 p.m.

Entries, which can be dropped off at the Guest Services Center no later than Wednesday, April 1, need to be submitted on a DVD or on a CD, and the accepted formats are AVI or MOV (Quicktime Movie) for Mac generated films or AVI, MOV, MPEG or WMV for PC generated films. Submission forms can be obtained at the White Pass Guest Services Center.

The final cut will be posted online at the resort's site and at the Guest Services Center April 10.

So take your best shot. Remember those guys at Teton Gravity Research and Matchstick Productions had to start somewhere.
