Heavenly has once again instituted its popular Jackpot Rail Jam Series, a weekly competition held under the lights off the World Cup lift on the California side of the two-state resort.

Participants are vying for a place in the Jackpot Rail Jam Finals March 28. That event boasts a $4,000 cash prize in addition to a boatload of sponsor gear.

Two qualifying events will be held on March 14 and March 21; the top five competitors in each category -- men's skiing and snowboarding, women's skiing and snowboarding, and overall best trick -- will qualify for the finals.

This judged event is designed for skiers and snowboarders who are comfortable on advanced rail features who want to battle for sweet prizes like Automaton snowboards, Moment skis, Solstice clothing, Neff gear, VonZipper goggles, Skullcandy headphones, DaKine bags, Freeskier gear, Bern helmets, and items from Ride, Flatline, Eesa, Smith, Landing, Girl Powder, and BettyRides.com.

The March 14 and March 21 competitions are open to the first 50 riders who sign up online. Open registration will be held in the Heavenly Race Department the day of the two events from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. if spots are available. Registration is $10 and competitors will receive a Jackpot Rail Jam T-shirt while supplies last.
