A world class winter sport region

Lech Zürs am Arlberg, June 2014

The famous holiday destinations of Lech und Zürs am Arlberg have been delighting winter visitors from all over the world with the best skiing and snowboarding, and a first class infrastructure for tourists. Alongside its exceptional altitude, it's the warm hospitality, the high class cuisine on offer and the mixture of tradition and modern that make up the very special charm of Lech Zürs am Arlberg. So it's no wonder that Lech Zürs is a member of the "Best of the Alps", a cooperation between the twelve best known tourist destinations in the Alps.

Winter sport paradise in the Arlberg

The mountain landscape of this winter sport paradise, set at an altitude of between 1,300 and 2,800 metres, creates the heavenly backdrop for this exclusive ski region. A total of 97 lifts and cable cars, 340 kilometres of runs and 200 kilometres of high alpine deep powder snow runs guarantee almost unlimited skiing and snowboarding enjoyment. Whether you're looking for deep powder snow, the nursery slopes, or blue, red or black runs − the Arlberg Card means you can use all the lifts and cable cars in Lech Zürs as well as the neighbouring resorts of Warth-Schröcken, Stuben, St. Christoph and St. Anton. Beginners or experienced skiing and snowboarding enthusiasts will find a large selection of courses to suit them in the seven ski schools. Local professional snow sport instructors will look after you – from skiing, snowboarding or snowshoeing through to off piste ski tours and heli-skiing. Snowboarders are drawn to the Snowpark Lech on the Schlegelkopf. Its 20 obstacles prepared daily, divided into easy, medium and pro lines, have the best shredding fun on offer.

Make a connection with the amazing Auenfeldjet

1+1=180 − the Auenfeldjet, a two kilometre long 10-seater gondola, has been linking the ski resorts of Lech Zürs and Warth-Schröcken since the 2013/2014 winter season, creating the largest ski region in Vorarlberg with 47 lifts and cable cars, and 180 kilometres of runs. The newly created ski region gives ambitious sportspeople and pleasure skiers even more variety in one of the snowiest regions in the Alps. Great care was taken to protect the environment when building the Auenfeldjet and it is an example of how to connect two ski regions in perfect harmony.

The White Ring – The Tour

For 50 years, the White Ring Tour has integrated technology with nature and connected Lech with Zürs, Zug, and Oberlech. For skiiers the White Ring stands for an athletic challenge consisting of 22 km of ski runs and 5,500 meters altitude as well as a sightseeingtour with viewing platforms at the Rüfikopf and at the Madloch (Natural platform)

The legendary race – The White Ring

The "White Ring" is a unique ski race in the Alps between Lech, Zürs, Zug and Oberlech. 5,500 metres of altitude, 22 kilometres of ski runs, pros against amateurs – that's what makes this cult race so fascinating. The race will be held for the 10th time on 17 January 2015. With a top class supporting programme, this sporting event has now developed into a highlight of the winter season. The course record for the "world's longest ski race" is held by former downhill ski racer Patrick Ortlieb with a time of 44:35:07 minutes.

More time, more space − slow down and relax with gentle winter sport

Snowshoe walkers, cross-country skiers, winter hikers and nature lovers will discover the winter wonderland around Lech Zürs am Arlberg in their own varied and active way. The "Sonnenabo" lift pass also makes it easy for active winter holidaymakers to get up the mountain. Once up there, an Alpine landscape opens up with lovely high-altitude hiking trails and a heavenly panoramic view over the surrounding peaks. The network of prepared winter hiking trails covers 40 kilometres and, depending on what takes your fancy, leads you to cosy inns far from the pistes or to sun terraces in the heart of the ski area. Cross-country skiers can take their time doing laps around 27 kilometres of the best prepared and varied cross-country trails. A special experience for nature and animal lovers is taking a guided walk to watch the deer feeding at dusk in winter. The wide range of options for active winter holidaymakers is rounded off by guided snowshoeing, a toboggan track and horse-drawn sleigh rides.
