Serre Chevalier Opens New Snowpark

Serre Chevalier opened ‘La Melezone,' its brand new snowpark, Jan. 14, 2009. It is accessible to intermediate skiers and snowboarders.

The Serre Chevalier Tourist Office says: "This slope offers a great playground made to measure by the ‘shapers' of the snowpark. You will find a dozen boxes, wall-rides, tree-jibs, and hips." The snowpark is accessed via the skilift Champcella on Chantemerle.

Serre Chevalier is hosting a number of exciting events before the end of the this winter season. The Big Torchlight Downhill will be held up on the Luc Alphand Piste at 7 p.m. on Feb. 25. Torches are on sale at the ski desks and tourist office. The event is open for all skiers and snowboarders with a minimum of three stars.

The second Serre Chevalier Derby is an exciting downhill event taking place on March 29. The race is set in the Cucumelle open bowl and features 1100 metres of vertical. The day before, on March 28, racers are invited to Villeneuvre/Serre Chevalier to find out the details of the race and enjoy an evening party from 8 p.m. Check Serre Chevalier's Web site to find out more about their skiing and events.
