The big party is at the base of the mountain and costumes are highly encouraged. They get even more cheers if you attempt to skim across the pond. Adding to the festive atmosphere is live music and boat drinks.
Sunlight Mountain Resort has also just extended its season for one more weekend. The closing day festivities will still be on March 30, but the resort will reopen for an extra weekend April 5 and 6. Lift tickets will be $40 on those two days.
For those who can’t make it across the pond skimming pool, head down the hill into the town of Glenwood Springs and take a nice soak in the Hot Springs Pool, which is the world’s largest natural hot springs. Glenwood also offers the natural underground Vapor Caves at Yampah Spa, the Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park and the historic Fairy Caves. Glenwood Springs is 40 miles north of Aspen and 60 miles west of Vail, along I-70.
