A brief change in weather ushered in snow at Oregon’s Mt. Hood Ski Bowl to allow it to open some of their terrain this past weekend. Beginners are in luck, as the beginner rope tow is running, and discounted lesson packages are available.

First timers can get 50 percent off a learn-to-ski or learn-to-ride package when purchased in tandem with a friend. That makes the lesson package cost $24 each. The package includes a lesson, lift ticket and rental equipment. The lift ticket is valid only on the beginner surface lifts.

To get the $24 rate, you must print or show a coupon, which is available online. With current conditions, Mt. Hood Ski Bowl is planning to operate Friday afternoon through Sunday, Jan. 24-26, 2014. The coupon deal is valid until January 31, 2014, should conditions permit daily lessons.
