The third Horn Sledge Race will take place in Saas-Fee March 5, 2009. Participants must team up in twos or threes - the leader, the brakeman, and the runner - in order to compete.

The winding course is marked with flags and if there is enough snow, jumps will be built into the track. The Saas-Fee tourist office says: "The winner will be decided on two runs. The main goal is to get the first and second run behind one with a minimal time difference. The team with the smallest time difference wins the race."

The prize giving ceremony takes place after the race. The ceremony also gives participants and spectators the chance to taste the region's traditional cuisine, including the Saaser meat soup.

Registrations are accepted until the start at 7:30 p.m. The entrance fee is 10CHF per person, including the lift. Horn sledges will be provided by the ‘IG Ziebel'. Alternatively, competitors can bring their own horn sledge to the race.

Saas-Fee is set at 1800 metres altitude, so it offers reliable snow cover. The ski area is particularly well suited to beginners and intermediates. There is 100 kilometres of pistes linked by 26 lifts. Skiers and snowboarders can reach a height of 3600 metres.
