The world's best aerial and mogul skiers return to Deer Valley Resort this week, Jan. 8 – 11, to compete in the 2014 FIS Visa Freestyle International World Cup. As a qualifying event for the upcoming Olympics in Sochi, this spectator-friendly ski race is a sneak peek at your future gold medal winners and is nothing short of a good time.

This year’s Freestyle World Cup marks the 15th year of elite ski competitions held at Deer Valley, which have included the 2002 Winter Olympics, two World Championships and 12 World Cups. The three events – aerials, moguls and dual moguls – bring out thousands of spectators every night, hyping up the excitement of every bump and jump on the course. Just be sure to wear warm clothes and solid boots for the 1/4-mile hike up to the spectator area (and maybe a thermos of hot chocolate). You’ll be happy you did.

The festivities kick off on Wednesday night on Park City’s Main Street, where Big Head Todd and the Monsters will perform a free outdoor concert from 7 – 10 p.m. The live-action, on-hill events begin on Thursday, Jan. 9, with all disciplines taking place in the evening under the lights. Each night concludes with a fireworks show for good measure.

Thursday, Jan. 9 – Moguls
Friday, Jan. 10 – Aerials
Saturday, Jan. 11 – Dual Moguls

All events are free to the public. For more information or a detailed schedule of events, visit Deer Valley’s website.
