Joe Cocker Headlines Grindelwald Concert April 4

The 12th SnowpenAir concert up on the Kleine Scheidegg will end the winter season in Grindelwald. The highest open-air concert in the snow takes place Saturday, April 4, 2009, at 2061 metres altitude. The event features big-name DJs as well as world-renowned singer, Joe Cocker.

There are also plenty of events to look forward to before the end of the winter season. The 12th Horn-sledge Race will take place March 7 at Alpiglen-Sand. This rustic sport has become an important part of the winter calendar in Grindelwald and promises to be fun for spectators and participants.

Skicross will be an Olympic sport for the first time in the Winter Games in Vancouver in 2010. In view of this, a Skicross World Cup race will take place in Grindelwald March 10-12. International skicross stars will compete in front of hundreds of spectators.

The International Gletscher Cup has taken place every year in March since 1976. This world-renowned ice skating competition will be held in Grindelwald March 14-15.

The party goes on in Grindelwald with the Splash the Pool Race March 28-29. It is a chance for participants to gather up their skis, snowboards, or a ‘fun mobile' (a homemade vehicle) to slide down a snow-covered ramp across an artificially constructed pool. The ramp across is shortened each time, making the crossing harder.
