Nickelback marked the start of the winter season at the Top of the Mountain Opening Concert in Ischgl on 30 November 2013. The Canadian rock band impressed over 21.000 fans at the legendary open-air concert before an impressive mountain backdrop, right at the heart of this Alpine lifestyle metropolis.

Ischgl rocked into the winter season on 30 November 2013 with some strong anthems and smoking ballads performed by Nickelback. The gravelly voice of frontman Chad Kroeger was a real hit with the 21.000 fans at the legendary Top of the Mountain Concert, complete with an impressive light show and skilful guitar riffs. Hits such as

‘Photograph’ and ‘How You Remind Me’ made the ice melt before the impressive mountain backdrop and warmed up the partying crowds. Fans travelled from Austria and abroad to enjoy the band’s top hits after a perfect day of skiing in the Silvretta Arena. The four Canadians were following in some famous footsteps with their open-air performance: world stars such as Elton John, Mariah Carey, Rihanna, Pink, Kylie Minogue and Alicia Keys have all brought the stage in this Alpine lifestyle metropolis to life.

Skiing by day, rocking entertainment by night

Winter sports fans in Ischgl were able to take to the pistes a few days before the concert because the lifts began operating on Thursday 28 November 2013 – with perfect snow conditions and lots of varied slopes as far as Samnaun in Switzerland. Ischgl offers its guests perfect skiing entertainment until the start of May 2014 in the Silvretta Arena. At the end of December 2013, the winter sports paradise will be extended for the first time in over 20 years. Following the opening of the new ‘Piz Val Gronda’ lift, skiers can now explore a new red piste and direct access to a previously unknown freeriding area.
