The Hochfügen ski resort is located at the entrance to the Zillertal valley at between 1,500m and 2,500m above sea level. This ski resort with guaranteed snow has won numerous national and international awards for its quality and has something for every winter sports fan: high quality pistes, top infrastructure, a range of descents and the ultimate ski-in/ski-out feeling guarantee skiers an unforgettable experience. Hochfügen has developed to become one of the most popular backcountry destinations in Europe with its different slope angles, fast access and a comprehensive range of services, courses and events.

Those familiar with Hochfügen appreciate its wide range of pistes with breath-taking slopes of deep powder snow, moguls, firn snow slopes in spring and gentle slopes and tracks. Hochfügen also offers magnificent conditions away from the pistes. There is something for everyone here to make every ski day truly special. Hochfügen is conveniently situated at the entrance to the Zillertal valley and is within easy reach of Munich (1.5 hours) and Innsbruck (40 mins). Visitors can travel here by car or take the free ski bus across the well-developed High Alpine Road to Hochfügen. Once here, the ultimate ski-in/ski-out experience starts right from the car park!

Always something happening during the season

Hochfügen has hosted numerous European Cup and FIS contests over the years. At the beginning of December, two FIS Snowboard European Cup races represent a warm-up to the racing series in Hochfügen. The ORF Safety Day also takes place at the start of the season in Hochfügen on 14 December and features workshops and practical exercises to provide a comprehensive range of information about safety on and off the piste. 

A spectacular event will also be held here again on 8 February 2014 when the world’s best up-and-coming freeriding talents come to the area for the 4* World Tour Qualifier Big Mountain Hochfügen to battle it out for sought-after world cup points and to secure themselves a fixed place in the world rankings. The competition is also accompanied by parties, trendy side events and the ultimate After Race Party with the stars. The visitor area at the 8erAlm offers optimal views of the Ostwand and the unfolding events. Hochfügen has a wide range of courses and training opportunities for freeriders of all ability levels, all season round. Off-piste skiing is only possible with well-founded avalanche awareness and in-depth knowledge of life-saving skills in the event of an avalanche accident. Infrastructure and services are available in the area and the Freeride Point Hochfügen is available as a contact point and registration office for those who favour variety. 

The season finale takes place in April as part of the Snowdown Hochfügen. The Snowdown Hochfügen will bid farewell to winter in Hochfügen from 17 to 20 April. The last days of winter can be enjoyed to the full with family and friends during the winter countdown with live concerts, parties, an early morning pint, children’s festivals, 2 rope races for kids and the 51st Hochfügen Rope Race with its traditional winter burning. Guests can take advantage of an ever-increasing programme offer at fantastic weekend prices.

Mountain hut fun, après-ski and the new ‘Holzalm’ Alpine mountain hut

The hotel industry in Hochfügen is just as diverse as the range of sporting offers, ranging from sophisticated 4-star and 3-star hotels to guesthouses, apartments and cosy Tyrolean Alpine mountain huts. Thanks to their location at the heart of the ski resort, these establishments offer winter sport fans a unique ski-in/ski-out experience. Skiing and snowboarding fans in Hochfügen can also enjoy the wide range of cuisine on offer for lunch, a stop-off snack, après-ski enjoyment or a relaxing break. Traditional Alpine mountain huts, freeflow restaurants with large sun terraces, the popular 8erTreff and the Alexander with its 3 Gault Millau toques at the Hotel Lamark leave no wish unfulfilled. A new catered Alpine mountain hut has also joined the wide range of offers this season. The ‘Holzalm’ is located at the meeting point of pistes 1, 2 and 3. The spacious sun terrace with dreamy views and the mountain hut’s own outside bar offer space for 250 guests.

Whether your driving on the BMW xDrive ski movie track is sporty, elegant, playful or creative – ski movies are great fun! The ski movie track operated by our partner BMW is located by the Holzalm on piste 3. 

Early bird at the weekend

Get up early and set off for some skiing fun: in Hochfügen, the turnstiles at the 8erJet and Hochfügen 2000 chair lift open at 8.00 am for Early Bird Skiing every Saturday and Sunday from January. For those who love to make their mark in the fresh new snow! 

A wide range of winter sports offers

In addition to its perfect pistes and magnificent deep snow descents, Hochfügen also has something else to offer: 9 km of cross-country trails, a natural toboggan run which is floodlit every day, romantic guided snow shoe walks and extensive tour offers. Hochfügen’s broad range of additional offers provides plenty of scope for winter sports enthusiasts. Children are also well looked after in the tourist board’s guest kindergarten to enable parents to enjoy a few hours out and about.
