Ontario's largest ski and snowboard festival comes to Blue Mountain Resorts in March. The TELUS Triple Challenge Ski and Snowboard Festival packs three days full of shows on the hill with thrills for spectators.
"The Triple Challenge is by far our biggest and most exciting event of the year," public relations specialist Kelly O'Neil told OnTheSnow.com. "It's kind of a wrap to the season and embraces the whole mountain lifestyle. Even non skiers attend."
The festival features freeskiing, snowboarding, big air, halfpipe, and rail jam events. Top skiing and snowboarding athletes compete for cash and prizes. Both qualifying and finals rounds draw crowds of spectators, especially for Saturday night's final big air competition.
A full slate of nightly parties, some rocking with outdoor music, supplement the on snow events. The weekend concludes with the Coors Light Wrap Party on Saturday night in Grand Central Lodge.
Blue Mountain plans to launch a Web site complete with the 2009 schedule and competitor invitation information.
"The event has a huge entertainment aspect," said O'Neil, adding that Blue Mountain can celebrate a good winter that started with lots of natural snow. "It's our last big event of the season."
