As the west weather finally arrives in the West, the rest of the nation is getting a break. Look for the warm weather that was in the West to bring some relief to those suffering from the cold this weekend. RC

West

After lots of waiting, the wet weather has finally arrived for the West, focusing most of its energy on California. Lower elevations could get up to an inch of rain, while the Sierra and southern California mountains could see up to a foot of new powder. Another system arrives in time for the weekend, and while not as intense as the first, it should still deliver a punch. Highs from the mid 30's in the mountains to the mid 50's near the coast.

Midwest

Just about everyone in the region gets a much deserved break today. The only real chance of activity is in northern Michigan, which could see a few flurries. This continue to warm up a bit into Friday, which is welcome news after many days of snow, cold and ice. Highs today from the upper 20's to the mid 60's in the plains.

Northeast

Things stay on the chilly side today, but most of the region should remain clear and dry. Light snow is possible in parts of New England and the mountains of West Virginia and PA. Highs in the single digits for northern New England to the mid 30's further south.
