Heel-up walking might seem simple, but it is an important part of ankle strength and a great ski workout, which is a key component of balance and lower-leg health. Maintaining a proper strength balance between your anterior lower leg (shin) and posterior/deep (calf) can help prevent painful shin splints after a season spent being battered in your ski boots.
