Local skiers and riders love to heckle their friends who wear old lift tickets on their jackets like badges of honor. But one Vermont resort is turning the tables and now the joke is on the hecklers. This spring Burke Mountain Resort is rewarding skiers and riders who present a 2012/13 lift ticket from ANY other mountain with a discounted $55 lift ticket through the end of the season. In addition, other-mountain season pass holders can present their season pass at Burke and pay just $45 (saves $23 bucks off the daily Adult rack rates).
Plus, early birds who jump on their 2013-14 season pass plans now can enjoy both a killer deal on next season's turn and the remainder of this year's turns for free. Current season pass holders can still order next year's pass early and get the best prices of the year – prices set to increase after May 13. And skiers and riders who want to still be making turns as May flowers are beginning to bloom, should take advantage of the Judge Pass for just $699, which lets them enjoy the latest turns of Vermont's season at Burke's (big) sister mountain, Jay Peak Resort.
Though the exact origin of the "Pond Skim" is still in question, there's no denying it has become a rite of spring for skiers and riders everywhere. Burke's 22nd Annual Pond Skimming Celebration is coming up April 6 and rewards brave contestants with a chance to win great prizes, while risking it all for the crowd's entertainment. Bless you, brave skimmers. Who knows where we'd be without you.
