Conditions have been crazy out of control at Sunlight Mountain Resort. Folks at the mountain have decided to re-open for one more weekend.
“We received 10-12 more inches from the last storm and we are currently at a 50-inch base. The predicted weather is showing cooler temperatures which will help us hang onto the snow that we have. We want to give everyone a reason to celebrate a better snow season than last year by staying open one more weekend.” That’s according to Jennie Spillane, Marketing Manager for Sunlight Mountain Resort.
The mountain is supposed to be closed after Easter, and it will. However, the following weekend (April 6-7), it will re-open with $35 lift tickets. Coupons and discounts won’t be valid either.
The excitement will be the annual Beach Party Pond Skim Spectacular on Sunday afternoon, April 7. Wear a costume and see how far you can skim across the pond. The winner gets a season pass for next season. There is also a costume contest.
Two out of three lifts (Tercero and Primo) will be running. The East Ridge with the extreme terrain will be closed for the weekend. Lessons are available for anyone over seven years old but not available for those kids six and under.
You can also hop the shuttle to the mountain on Saturday and Sunday of that last weekend. Pickup is at Sunlight Ski & Bike Shop at 309 9th Street in Glenwood Springs. Be ready at 8:25 a.m. and the bus leaves at 4:20 so it will be a full day.
