The first of Wyoming’s ski areas started to close down for the season this past weekend. But the big ones — Jackson Hole and Grand Targhee — are planning for more skiing into April and season finale endings.

The first of Wyoming’s closures came March 23 with White Pine Ski Area shutting down the lifts for the season, citing “deteriorating snow conditions”. Snow King closed the next day on March 24.

Despite closures of smaller Wyoming ski areas, other resorts with deeper snowpacks plan on chugging into April. Due to their elevation and locations flanking the Teton Mountains, Jackson Hole and Grand Targhee can get powder right up until closing day. Don't believe us? Take a look at this clip of powder skiing at Jackson Hole last week:

To celebrate the season finale, the Mountain Festival returns to Jackson Hole Mountain Resort March 30. Music starts under the tram in the afternoon followed by a free outdoor concert in the evening featuring O.A.R. Fireworks cap the night. Mountain Festival lodging is available starting at $109 per person per night with a two-night minimum.

The U.S. Airbag Demo Tour will also be at Jackson Hole for the Mountain Festival weekend. The bag provides a soft landing for learning jumps. Jackson Hole has scheduled April 7 for its last day of skiing.

Grand Targhee plans to keep its lifts running the longest in Wyoming. The resort is scheduled to operate lifts daily until April 21. Closing weekend brings on the annual cardboard box derby on Saturday.

Targhee is offering a fourth night free in vacation rentals this spring. The rentals range from one-bedroom condos to four-bedroom homes.

Snowy Range Ski Area aims to run daily until April 7. The resort is selling Spring 4-Packs, a collection of four lift tickets for $99. The tickets are transferable, so you can share them with friends or family. Spring 4-Packs are available only online.

Hogadon is slated to be open through April 7, pending snow conditions.
