Snow began falling on Tuesday and into Wednesday in the mountains along the entire West Coast. Several inches of snow fell from the Cascades down through the Sierra.
On Thursday and Friday a cold low pressure working its way down the West Coast will bring several more inches of snow to the same areas. Even the Southern Sierra will get some good snow as the low pressure system rotates inland over Southern California.
The storm departs on Saturday as a large ridge of high pressure begins to build in off the West Coast. That will dry things out and bring warming temperatures into early next week.
An area of low pressure in the Northeast Pacific will combine with low pressure North of Hawaii to bring in a stream of moisture to Washington starting Sunday. The snow levels will be rising above 4,000 ft. and several inches of rain will fall below that through Tuesday. Above the snow line up to 5 feet of snow could fall.
Further South, Oregon and California look to remain dry until another trough can drop down the coast, possibly by the end of next week. That may return snowfall to all areas beyond this upcoming week.
