The climax of Ischgl's ski season will be the Top of the Mountain open-air gig by British rock legends Deep Purple on Tuesday, April 30, the penultimate day of the five month long season.
The band will perform on a specially constructed stage on a snowy plateau at 2,320m, right at the heart of Ischgl’s extensive ski area, which offers 238kms of pisted runs.
In the run up to their concert, the ski area is packed with events:
April 1: The Top Of The Mountain Easter concert with soul rap music from German duo XAVAS.
April 4-6: The World Rookie Finals from bringing the best international snowboarders for the final showdown in the 2013 world tour.
April 12-14: Ischgl Heroes Challenge featuring World Cup and Olympic medal winning ski veterans such as Patrick Ortlieb, Marc Girardelli and Leonhard Stock in a charity fun event, with money raised going to the United Nations World Food Programme.
April 14: Spring Snow Festival on the slopes of Alp Trida, just over the border in Samnaun, Switzerland, with the Finnish band Sunrise Avenue, and a giant slalom competition for The International Silvretta Students’ Cup.
April 15-16: Chefs Challenge for leading Austrian, German and Swiss chefs with a giant slalom.
April 17-18: Gourmet Class Skiing on April 17-18 plus the crowning event of a bartending championship
