Copper is getting ready for sunshine and snowy conditions as spring fast approaches. “The snow is great,” says Stephanie Sweeney, Public Relations with Copper Mountain Resort. “We have lots of exciting events coming up.”

The action starts in early March with the Colorado Winter Olympics. Copper Uncorked, March 8-10, is a wine festival with affordable wines and not-so traditional food pairings. For example a glass of Chianti with a New York style slice of pizza. Or a Zinfadel with smoky barbecue wings.

The big one that really gets Copper sizzling is the Eenie Weenie Bikini Contest. This skimpy day of excitement started back in 1986 and was featured in Rolling Stone magazine and on Good Morning America. Bikini Day happens in celebration with Copper Mountain’s St. Patty’s Day O’Fuego celebration. The fun starts at 3:30 on the afternoon of Saturday, March 16. Contestants either ski or snowboard from the base of the 22-foot Main Vein SuperPipe into Burning Stones Plaza at Copper’s Center Village. Get your seats and your green beer early at Jack’s Slopeside Grill & Bar.

Registration is open and is limited to 20-25 females and 20-25 males.  Sweeney says, “Getting its start in 1986, the Eenie Weenie Bikini Contest is back this year in celebration of Copper’s 40th Anniversary. Also, the contest is a part of our St. Patrick’s Day O’Fuego activities this year so it will be a day full of fun on the snow with a little luck of the Irish!”
