It’s called One Run Lessons, offered by the ski school at Arapahoe Basin. “It’s really neat because it’s free and kind of gives guests a taste of what a lesson would be,” says Leigh Hierholzer, director of marketing and communications for Arapahoe Basin Ski Area.
One Run Lessons happen from 10 a.m. to noon on two upcoming Sundays, Feb. 10 and March 10. Look for the tent at the base area and sign up for the mini lesson.
Then you’ll meet your instructor at the top of the Black Mountain Express lift which comes out of the base area. They will then take you down one of the runs back to the base area. “They’ll come down High Noon, Sundance, Wrangler, or Ram Rod, depending on what the guest wants to learn. They’ll give them one or two tips that they can think about for the rest of the day,” says Hierholzer.
That is the purpose of the lesson, to suggest minor changes or improvements to the guest’s technique and to introduce the guest to the resort’s snowsports instructors. “Anybody can learn, no matter how good they area. We can always do better. Getting some tips from professionals can make anybody a better skier or rider. Maybe this opens people’s minds to the idea of taking a lesson,” Hierholzer added.
A-Basin has been getting some good snowstorms rolling through, with more snow on the way. Hierholzer says, “With this new snow, it makes it look like winter again. Even the new snow brings out optimism and positive attitudes for future snowstorms that are predicted.”
