It's that time of year again, the time when the best snow sports athletes in the world flock to Aspen, Colo. to compete in Winter X Games. From January 24 - 27, the entire snow sports world will focus their attention to the often overlooked Buttermilk Mountain, where athletes will battle for gold in a variety of different disciplines. While Winter X Games also features snowmobiling, here at OnTheSnow we will have our eye on the skiing & snowboarding events.

Some headlines heading into the action in Aspen include the return of Mark McMorris, the 18-year-old snowboarder who was the first to land at triple cork in a competition and the reigning Winter X Slopestyle and Big Air champion, who will be squaring off with perennial favorite Shaun White on the Slopestyle course. Tom Wallisch (who had a HUGE 2012), Henrik Harlaut and Russ Henshaw are sure to put on a show in Men's Skiing Slopestyle while Kaya Turski, Anna Segal and Keri Herman will all compete in the Women's event. Tanner Hall will also make his return to Winter X, after a career-threatening injury in 2009, and fans will finally be able to see T-Hall getting after it in the SuperPipe once again.
