Minnesota’s Afton Alps is simplifying ways for you to cut costs on your next ski/boarding outing with some great packages for families, whether you’re skiing here or out West.

Afton, featuring 18 lifts and tows serving 49 trails over 300 acres, is now part of the Vail family. This ski area overlooking the St. Croix River valley minutes from the Twin Cities is offering a deal for season passholders that they simply can’t refuse.

Choose Vail’s “Friends & Family” package, and passholders get up to 50 percent off lodging at Vail and Beaver Creek properties. You must use the special online code and confirm your passholder status to take advantage of this great deal. Save 25 percent off lift tickets there and at other Vail family resorts in Colorado and California.

If you’re not headed west this season, there are plenty of on-mountain deals at Afton, too. Family value day lift tickets are offered on Feb. 3, March 3, 9 and 10 – two for $52, a saving of $30 on two.

Its “Ski and Ride, Simplified” package is offered nightly for $99.95. Beginners to advanced skiers/riders get a swipe card valid for three lift tickets (after 4:30 p.m. any day), three ski or snowboard rentals and three one-hour lessons.  Rentals and lessons alone normally would cost $135. Throw in three lift tickets, and you’re talking a nearly 50 percent savings. Sign up online here.
